Herbal remedies for Fibromyalgia Syndrome

There are only two fully herbal drugs for the treatment of Fibromyalgia Syndrome symptoms known and available.

Both of them have been tried successfully with FMS patients and both offer the full spectrum of effects that a FMS patient would require: pain relief, sleep improvement, motivation enhancement and inducing a positive mood swing.

One of these drugs is marihuana. In the western world mostly just known as a recreational drug it has only recently found its deserved way back onto the lists of pharmaceutical drugs. In many states it still is illegal though and even where it has been legalized for medical purposes many doctors are still reluctant to prescribe it.

Mitragyna speciosa is also known as recreational drug, but only in South East Asia from where it originates. There are no laws in the US or Europe to regulate the sale or consumption of kratom, as it is also called. It can therefore be sold prescription free.

Traditionally used as an opium substitute kratom has undoubtedly strong properties as a painkiller. Depending on the dosage it is either sedating and sleep inducing or stimulating and mood enhancing. This way in the morning it will help the FMS patient to start into an active, painless and happy day and in the evening will support a deep sleep undisturbed by any pain. Unlike marihuana, Kratom has the additional benefits of not being addictive, not being hallucinogenic, not being restricted – and affordable at the same time.
